Australian cyclist Michael Matthews has taken a narrow lead in the week-long Paris-Nice race after a second stage that was marred by a dramatic late crash.
Dutchman Cees Bol won the 188-km stage between Oinville-sur-Montcient and Amilly on Monday, producing his best effort with 50 metres to go to beat Denmark's Mads Pedersen and Matthews in third.
Several riders were not able to contest the final sprint as they were held up behind a crash in the peloton about one kilometre from the line.
