Aarhus will convert food waste into fuel and fertilizer

People living in the Danish municipality of Aarhus will have to sort their food waste starting in 2023. In doing so, they will work towards protecting the environment since sorted food waste will be used for fuel in trucks and fertilizer in the fields.

On the municipal website, the city reports that a 2018 study found that food waste accounts for 40% of household waste in Aarhus. Now, advancements in technology have made it possible for food waste to be collected, sorted, and used to help save the planet.

In a press release, councillor Bünyamin Simsek commented: “When we sort, we recycle more for the benefit of the environment, and we make better use of our resources. That is why it makes very good sense for us to spend more effort on sorting when technology gives us such good opportunities to use virtually all the collected food waste for products that benefit the environment.”

Denmark is building a fuel cell factory that offers 90% efficiency

For the Danes, green energy is as natural as oil is for the Arabs. Denmark has been among the leaders in Europe for years. More than 30% of its energy consumption is renewable. And the northern Europeans are determined to hold on to this lead by investing billions in various projects for the future.

The largest and most exciting project to date is the construction of a gigantic energy island 80 kilometers off the coast where electricity generated from hundreds of wind turbines will be collected for transportation and processing purposes. It is a project that shows that Denmark does not just want to produce green energy for itself. No, it also wants to become a major exporter.

Another project that fits in with this ambition was announced last week by the Haldor Topsøe company. The Lyngby-based company is planning to build a plant for so-called “solid oxide electrolyser cells” (SOEC).

Nokia to supply Cibicom with mission critical LTE network across Denmark

Nokia has announced an agreement with the Danish operator and internet service provider (ISP) Cibicom to implement a new 450MHz LTE (4G) network. The project will ensure that key mission-critical services throughout the country have access to highly reliable and secure connectivity as well as building preparedness for mass volume IoT adoption.

The deal means replacing the existing Cibicom radio networks and migrating them to a new framework that will enable full 4G data coverage across Denmark, as well as mass-volume IoT connectivity. Building on the company’s 450mHz license acquisition in June, the project will not only allow Cibicom to improve its offering to utility companies but also ensures that the service provider is in a strong position to adapt to changing customer requirements and offer new opportunities and application support around 5G 3.5Ghz.

A copyright violator in Denmark wants authorities to arrest him

A citizen of Denmark Henrik Anderson decided to check the force of the copyright laws in the country and copied some DVDs anyway, a whole bunch of them. Having uploaded the contents of 100 discs to his computer (for personal use), he's asking to be arrested. At first Anderson reported his crime to Denmark's Antipiratgruppen, a dedicated organization in Denmark that fights piracy. However the watchdog failed to take any punitive measures against the violator. The only answer was that since his DVD ripping was for personal use, it would not be pursuing legal action against him. Then Anderson decided to approach his local police asking them to arrest him for his committing the crime. It is unclear if the police responded. The Danish Ministry of Culture issued a threatening letter to Anderson warning him that his actions were against the law. But as we see the national anti-piracy group has no desire to prosecute him. This way Anderson shows to the public the paradox of contradictory laws and selective enforcement. Source:ecommerce-journal.com/
